This site is located just south of Ellsworth, on the proposed extension of the Acadia All American Road from the head of the Mount Desert Island into Trenton. The site is well into the transition from a rural to an urban sky. It was selected to measure the environmental impact made by the Acadia Gateway Center and Island Explorer Transit Center. Note the maximum scale (white) levels of light pollution. The survey also shows how relatively small sources, like the "security lighting" at the Bar Harbor BioTechnology Building, make a visible impact at close distances. From the top of Cadillac, none of these light domes can be isolated. | ||
