The Island Astronomy Institute is a member-supported organization, and our programs depend upon donations The Island Astronomy Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. registered in the State of Maine. All contributions are tax deducible to the full extent permitted by law. You may download our IRS Form 990-EZ here.

 

Our present fundraising efforts are focused on several specific projects:

 

* Purchasing a Digital STARLAB to use in our education programs
*
Acquiring a copy of the National Park Service's Measurement System
* Developing the Hands in Space exhibit and outreach program
 

 

While donations of all sizes are welcome, we recognize the following membership levels:


* $35—Member
* $50—Friend
* $100—Sky Gazer
* $150—Nova
* $250—Supernova
* $1,000—Lifetime

 

 

Digital STARLAB donations:

 

Every $50 donated for the Digital STARLAB will be recognized as one of the planetarium's stars. The number of stars contributed in any name will be added together over the life of the program. Any name accumulating ten stars will be recognized as creating a Star Cluster. Every ten Star Clusters will be recognized as a Galaxy.

 

* Stars—$50 each
* Cluster—10 Stars
* Galaxy—10 Clusters

 

 

Donate a hand to science:

 

To recognize significant sponsors of Hands In Space, a custom-made "signature series" astronaut glove will be created. The hand sizing template will be used to custom fit a glove to any hand selected by a class, school, or special donor. The signature series glove will be manufactured using Flagsuit's patented process and will feature a signature, company name, or logo in recognition of the sponsor. All gloves will remain the property of the Island Astronomy Institute to be used exclusively for our educational outreach programs.
